International Student Scholarships in Belgium: Top 10

Many people are unaware of the fact that Belgium offers a variety of scholarship programs for foreign students, with a particular focus on students from poor countries receiving financial assistance. The Belgian government, as part of its efforts to promote development cooperation, provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to international students who are interested in continuing their education in Belgium. International students may also take advantage of scholarship opportunities offered by Belgian universities that are ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.

Flanders Government Master Mind Scholarships for International Students

The Master Mind Scholarships are a new scholarship program that has been launched by the Government of Flanders. The program’s primary objective is to encourage the internationalization of the Flemish Higher Education system. Up to thirty-five scholarships are given out to exceptional master’s degree candidates from all around the world. Under the terms of the scholarship, the prospective student will receive a maximum of 7,500 Euros for each academic year. The applicant may be required to pay a tuition charge from the Flemish Host Institution that is no more than one hundred Euros per year.

Leuven Science Scholarships for International Students

International students who are highly motivated and bright and who are interested in enrolling in an international master’s program offered by the Faculty of Science at the University of Leuven are eligible to apply for the Science@Leuven International Scholarship. It is possible for the scholarship to be worth up to 10,000 Euros for a period of one year. The scholarship will always cover the expense of tuition for one year, as well as the cost of insurance and a minimal health insurance coverage benefit. The amount that is allotted for living costs is subject to change.

Science Leuven International Scholarships

Fellowships for advanced study or research for one academic year at a Belgian university or other institution of higher learning are available via the Belgian American Educational Foundation (B.A.E.F.). The foundation invites applications from nationals or permanent residents of the United States who are interested in applying for these fellowships. A maximum of 10 fellowships, each with a stipend of $28,000 for Master’s or Ph.D. students or $32,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows, will be awarded by the British Academy of Engineering and Science (B.A.E.F.).

Scholarships offered by ARES

A total of around 150 master’s degree scholarships and seventy training scholarships via courses are awarded by the ARES to individuals who are citizens of poor nations on an annual basis. The scholarship will pay expenditures related to overseas travel, and it will also cover living expenses, tuition fees, insurance, housing allowance, and other charges.

Eligible:

Applicants must be citizens of the United States or permanent residents of the country, and they must also meet the following requirements: Applicants must either be enrolled in a Ph.D. or comparable degree program in the United States at the time of application or have completed the program. Alternatively, when enrolled in a graduate school in Belgium (either a Master’s or Ph.D. degree) and holding the BAEF fellowship registration, Or possess a Master’s degree, a Ph.D., or a degree that is comparable. By the first of July in 2024, candidates for post-doctoral positions shall have not more than two years after they received their PhD degree.
